May Update: Improvements Based on Your Feedback

In this update, I tried to reflect as much of your feedback as possible. Small inconveniences you reported, missing techniques you pointed out, and requests shared while using the app in real training environments became the basis for this May update.

It has been a little over four years since I first built Post Black Belt. When I checked the recent records, I noticed that there have now been more than 250 updates. That means I have updated the app more than once a week on average. In this post, I will briefly summarize the recent changes.

32 New Techniques Added

There really is no end to jiu-jitsu techniques. In this update, I added 32 new techniques in total. Some were well-known techniques that were still missing, such as Headquarters Position, K Guard, and Arm Drag. Others, like Tarikoplata and Truck, were techniques I also learned about more recently.

I will keep expanding the technique list over time. If there is a technique you use often, a technique you like, or something you searched for but could not find in the app, please feel free to let me know. I will add them one by one where possible.

Improved Technique Content

I think improving existing technique content is just as important as adding new techniques. This time, based on user feedback, I added a more accurate image for the seatbelt grip.

I also revised parts that needed clearer explanations and added images to make some techniques easier to understand. Jiu-jitsu techniques can be explained a little differently depending on the gym or instructor, so this is not always simple. Still, I want Post Black Belt to keep organizing them in a way that is easy to revisit later.

Paid Users Can Now Write Journals Up to 5,000 Characters

I also received feedback asking for a longer journal content limit. Paid users can now write journal entries up to 5,000 characters.

Some days, you may only want to leave a short note about the technique you learned. But after a seminar, a competition, or while organizing an injury and recovery process, you may need a longer record. This kind of feedback is always welcome. It helps me understand how people actually use the app, which makes improving it much easier.

Offline Mode

Checking journals in offline mode

Last month, I also added offline mode. This feature also started from user feedback. Some people mentioned that it would be useful to check past journals even in gyms with poor internet connection or while on the move.

Now you can check your records more reliably even when the network is unstable. I hope it makes it easier to revisit older journals right before training or between classes.

Other Usability Improvements

Alongside visible feature updates, I also worked on reducing loading time and improving stutters. When an app has been maintained for a long time, cleaning up the existing structure and moving to newer technologies becomes just as important as building new features.

This time, I also worked on internal upgrades and migration. Users may not notice these changes directly, but they help create a more stable foundation for future features.

Wrap-up

I was a little surprised to see that Post Black Belt has gone through more than 250 updates. It is an app I build and maintain on my own, but I have been able to keep fixing and improving it because people continue to send feedback.

If there are missing techniques, inconvenient parts, or features you want to see improved, please feel free to let me know anytime. I will keep updating Post Black Belt so it can become an easier and longer-lasting place for your jiu-jitsu records.
