For the July update, I refined Post Black Belt again based on the good jiu-jitsu records and feedback users shared this month. I focused on making quick attendance check-ins, random technique hashtags, daily journals, promotion moments you want to remember for a long time, and competition and medal records feel more naturally connected inside the app.
In this post, I will briefly summarize the latest updates. They may not look like huge changes, but I hope the screens you often return to as your records build up feel a little more comfortable to use.
Competition and Medal Records
You can now record competitions you participated in separately inside Post Black Belt. I also made it possible to check your overall medal podium and see the medals you earned for each competition in a podium-style view.
For gi competitions, you do not need to record your belt separately. The app automatically shows the belt from that point in time based on the timeline saved in Belt Storage. If you want to leave more detailed notes about a competition, you can write a journal, and you can also create competition data from the journals you have written so far. This feature was built from user feedback received near the end of last month.
View Promotion-Day Journals in Belt Storage
In addition to checking promotion dates and D-days in Belt Storage, you can now also view journals written on those dates. I think a promotion is not just a date. It is a moment remembered together with that day's class, the people you trained with, and the feelings you had.
As time passes, the exact details can fade little by little. Still, when you revisit the journal you left that day, it becomes much easier to remember how you felt while training and what stayed with you. I hope Belt Storage becomes more than a simple list of records and turns into a place where you can look back on the time you have spent continuing jiu-jitsu.
Custom Color Themes
Until now, Post Black Belt used black and red as the default black-belt color theme to match the app name. You can now choose gray, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, or brown themes based on your belt color or personal preference.
You do not have to match your current belt color. You can simply choose the color you like most right now. Since many people open the app every day to record their training, I wanted the screens they see often to feel a little more personal. It is a small change, but I hope opening the app feels more like your own experience.
Quick Attendance Check-In
There are days when writing a detailed journal is difficult. Still, there are times when you want to at least leave a record that you trained, so I added a quick attendance check-in feature that creates a Technical Practice journal with one button.
You can also use it when you want to quickly save past training records. First, record it simply like an attendance check-in, and later, when you have time, you can change the journal hashtags or write more details. This feature was also built from user feedback.
Random Technique Hashtags
Post Black Belt includes more than 160 jiu-jitsu technique hashtags. Now you can load these techniques at random and swipe through them lightly, like Shorts. I hope this helps you remember what you trained today or discover a technique you may want to look into next.
When you tap a technique you like, it opens the technique detail screen. From there, you can check your journals, related videos, and connected hashtags in more detail. I wanted to make this more than a simple way to skim technique names. I wanted it to become an exploration experience that connects back to the records you actually left.
Competition Added to My Page
I added a way to see journals written under the competition category at a glance on My Page. The process of preparing for a competition, weigh-ins, travel, the nerves on match day, and the reflections afterward carry a different weight from regular training journals.
Now you can gather only competition-related records and more easily look back on how you prepared, what went well, and what you need to practice again. I hope past records can become a small reference point when preparing for your next competition.
Closing
Thank you again to everyone who left good records this month and sent feedback about inconveniences and ideas for improvement. I build and operate this app alone, but feedback from people who actually use it makes it much clearer which parts should be improved first.
I will keep improving Post Black Belt so promotion, training, competition, and technique records can last longer and become easier to revisit. If anything feels inconvenient while using the app, or if there is a feature you would like to see improved, please feel free to let me know anytime.
