Hi, I am Quartz, building the jiu-jitsu journal app Post Black Belt. The first month of 2025 has already passed. In this post, I want to briefly introduce several new features that many users asked for.

Log Days with Two Jiu-Jitsu Sessions

Logging two jiu-jitsu sessions in one day

In jiu-jitsu, training multiple classes in one day is surprisingly normal. Many users told me it felt disappointing when two or three sessions looked exactly the same as one session on the calendar. To fix this, we added small dots under the icon when you train multiple times in a day. For four or more sessions, we show the number directly. I hope this makes hard training days feel properly reflected in your records.

Celebrate the Day You Started Jiu-Jitsu

How long have you been training jiu-jitsu? I am now past 3 years and 3 months. Previously, we showed this as a raw day count like 1,235 days. We changed it to a more readable year/month/day format. We also added confetti celebrations for milestones like anniversaries and every 100-day mark. I hope this helps make your jiu-jitsu journey more meaningful and more fun.

Next, I plan to add features like belt promotion D-days and D-day widgets, so please stay tuned.

Choose Your Icon Theme

Some users said the default emoji style felt too colorful or just not their preference. So we added 3D illustrations and an ink-painting style alongside the basic 2D icons. You can style your jiu-jitsu journal in a way that fits your taste better. We also aligned no-gi rashguard icons with belt colors (white belt uses a black rashguard). The belt storage section was updated as well, with some small easter eggs.

View All Journals

Another common feedback was that it was hard to review everything at once after writing many entries. Now, if you apply no filters on the journal search screen, you can see all entries in one place. You can also toggle "Show only entries with titles" in the top-right corner to focus on more important notes.

Wrap-up

I hope you enjoy training with Post Black Belt throughout 2025. My injury is almost recovered, and I am finally preparing to return to regular training. I hope everyone has a healthy year without injuries. Feedback is always welcome, so feel free to reach out anytime.
